April 2008:- Peg one produces some excellent results thanks to Mathew & Neil. In a five day session they managed to produce the first 50lb'er of 2008 and Mirrors of 24.8lb, 26lb, 30lb, 26lb, 29lb, 20lb, 26.5lb, 32lb, 29lb, 31lb, 30lb, 41lb, 30lb and 36.5lb linear. Commons of 23lb, 32lb, 35.8lb, and grass carp to 23lb & 19lb.
2008 STARTS HERE:- On a short two day session in March, 2008 starts well with me, Matt and Luke catching nothing under 30lb. From left to right, me with a 34lb mirror, Luke with two mirrors at 32lb & 36lb and finally Matt showing off with four mirrors from 30lb to 39lb. 2008 is looking good to increase the average catch above 30lb.
2007:- Rob on a day ticket on peg 6/7 managed to pull out a near 50 at 471/2lb. He's booked up for a week in 2008 to catch it at 50+.
Sept 2007:- Anthony and party had a great short break. Anthony holding a 29lb common. Gary a 48lb cat and the 34lb mirror with the woolly hat on. Dave has a 42lb cat, a 24lb carp. Finally Steve and Billy. They enjoyed it so much, they have booked again for 2008 for a full week!
Sept 2007:- Owen with his dad on peg one had a great week with 40+ carp to this one at 47 1/2lb
Sept 2007:- Chris & John had quite a haul from peg 3 and this was their first time in France. Below are a few words they had to say. "Me and my dad would like to thank you all for a fantastic weeks fishing. We could not have asked for better hospitality, nothing was too much effort for Dave and the team. The food was great and the weather wasn't too bad either. We had a total of 43 fish, several fish topping 38 1/2 lb. The smallest was 16lb. One of the highlights of our trip was catching 8 thirties in 24hrs. We had a total of 21 thirties and a lot of high 20's, and even managed to bag a 55lb catfish. We will definitely be booking for next year. Once again thank you for a fantastic fishing experience in France." Chris and John Pomphrey
Sept 2007:- Carpology competition prize winner, Tony from Kent waited a year to take his prize, but it was worth it. Here are just four of the 30lb+ fish that he caught for the week. Comment from Tony, "Thank you all so much for a great week at Etang du Soliel. Your hospitality was greatly appreciated, and the food was excellent, all in all 'the very best trip I have had to France so far".
Aug 2007:- Brothers, Tim & Andy with their mate Nick spend a family holiday in France. Good food, wine, hospitality and lots & lots of CARP. Even the girls had a go, her proud father taught her all she knows! Note from Tim, "I just thought I would drop you a line to say we had a fantastic time at your lake. The weather wasn’t on our side but it didn’t really matter. Dave and Lynn really did look after us well, above and beyond the call of duty I can’t speak highly enough of them. The fishing was great I have sent Dave some pictures of the bigger one’s, I hope he gets them ok. Highlight of the week was my 10 year old daughter playing and landing a 27lb 8oz mirror from 90 yards out! We liked it so much we are looking to return in October." Thanks again. All the best Tim.
July:- 2007 Harvin returns for a fourth time, this time his Dad, Frank gets a look-in on peg one.
July 2007:- The catch rate continues into July. Phil, James & Chris return to spend some time on pegs 8,9 & 10, here are some of the results. Below is what Phil had to say. "Just a quick note to thank you so much again for giving me and James the opportunity to experience quality French carping again!!! Another fantastic week.....oh sorry two weeks, ha, which was action packed, thanks to your fantastic partners (Dave & Lynn) who provided brilliant assistance and service. Not to miss Matt, who was an absolute star. Unfortunately we never met him last year; but really hit it off this year making an instant friendship. From organising a day trip on a local water to giving exceptional tips on fishing areas. As for the fishing, well where do I start.... I may not have beaten last years record but caught thee most gorgeous looking fish, one of these goes by the name of deb's, the 36lb linear. what a beaut. I think I have to mention here a quick not about James' 57lb cat. (you may want to put this on the net), it shows that that anyone can catch the cats) as I explained before we went to the local community lake where he caught 4 decent fish, lucky you may think, but no, its gets better. On return, he cast out putting the line through the tree. The lead hit the water over a non-baited patch. whilst he was wiggling his rod to relieve the line, it pearled off. He didn't even have chance to put the rod on the pod. what a lucky bast@rd!!!" "Thanks again Alan, you and your team are brilliant." June 2007 :- Ken spent a week mixing it up between pegs 8 & 10 and here are some of the results. list of fish catfish 45lb (pb) mirrors 28lb,20lb,22lb,27lb,29lb,42lb(pb),26lb,23lb,29lb,19lb,34lb, 23lb,22lb,30lb. commons 39lb,29lb,42lb(pb) these three fish he got on the same day! June is turning out to be a top month for 2007, these are the pics that we do have there are plenty that we don't!
June 2007:- Mark, Steve & Chris from Liverpool return on pegs 3,4 & 5. Another good time had by all, here's what they had to say. "thanks for looking after us again at your lake we all had a great time and cannot wait till next year....I'm sure the fish will be bigger again as they were a lot bigger than last year, any way I've sent some pics of me, Steve and Chris I'm not sure of all the sizes but we all beat our pb I know Chris's biggest was a 38lb cat, Steve's was 34lb and mine 38lb..i hope you can pick 1 or 2 to put on the site.....thanks again mate and see you next year."
June 2007 :- Pete say's it all with his letter to the chaps at carpology. Hi all at CARPology, Following your recent article about Lac du Soleil, I thought you might like to see the attached (36lb). We had a fantastic time, apart from the weather, were well looked after, apart from the weather, and really enjoyed the trip, apart from the weather! The heavens opened on Saturday evening soon after our arrival and didn't close up again till about Monday. We then had very heavy downpours off and on for the rest of our week with temperatures hovering around the 14 degree C mark... Brrrrrrrr. We were decidedly soggy and very blue to say the least! The CARPology mags Dave and Lynn had in the barn more than kept us sane: gave us something to read whilst we were huddling inside very wind blown and floating bivvies. (The Extreme Bivvy Test is a great idea by the way.) However, the fishing well made up for our joint sogginess and frost bite (as did the food – top nosh or what?!). I went hoping with everything crossed for a 40 – finished with three and Malc went with everything crossed for a 30 – he was the first to catch a 40 and finished with eight thirties! With us catching 2 x 40lb+ cats, 3 x 40lb+ carp, 13 x 30lbs, 23 x 20lbs and a few babies, we could scarcely believe how well we had done. In fact, we are still pinching ourselves. All my fish came from Peg 3 (so not “crèche bay” for me, Joe). Malc was in “fish corner” – peg 10. Top place, top food, top treatment (we were both loaned wellies due to dripping socks and Dave sorted me another sleeping bag to stop my dripping nose – I was frozen!). As you can imagine, we've booked again for next year. Pete Sturges – a very happy boilie basher.

June 2007:- Kevin Richardson, Richard & Robert Whiterod return on pegs 8,9&10 and produce some excellent results.
May 07:- More from our regulars from Holland. As you will see from prvious entries, Harvin has grown up with our carp, he keeps getting bigger and so do the carp. Now he has started on the cats with this one at 46lb and carp to 35lb. The first pic is an original carp, a dark English looking mirror.
May 07:- Note from Ray, "I entered a competition in the Carpology Magazine in 2006 to win a weeks fishing at Etang du Soleil for 2 people. Alan Simpson phoned to tell me I had won a drive and survive fishing trip. Martin and I set off on 16th May from Stanstead Airport (having decided to upgrade to fly rather than drive), and within 3 hours we were fishing. The lake, equipment and hospitality were superb. We both had a very successful week, I had 14 fish, totaling over 300lb and Martin had 10 fish totaling just under 300lb. I had the best weeks fishing ever having caught a mirror carp weighing 50.5lb (the lake record). Martin's biggest catch was a common carp weighing 40lb." "The weeks flew by, we had a great time, loads of fish, good food cooked by Lyn and lots of good advice from Dave and Matthew. The only downside to the whole week was the photo of me with the huge carp!!!" "I will recommend Etang du Soleil to everyone, whether a solo trip, party or family, Dave and co. cater for all." "Our grateful thanks to all concerned, look forward to visiting you again in the near future." April 07:- Carpology returns, Joe enjoyed it so much last year they came back for more, lots more from these results! April 07:- Simon & Kevin hit two records with a 27lb grass carp and the biggest carp for 2007 so far at 48lb. April 2007:- Andy & Steve have the new total weight record for the week. The best by Andy at 1,065.5lbs, 42 carp and 4 cats from peg 10, 6 of them were 30+. Also Steve had a 759lb total. 27carp and 2 cats with 7 x 30+, on peg 9.
April 2007:- Henry, age 17 on his first trip to France with his best for the week. I'm sure he will have plenty more trips following this session. Henry with had a weeks total of 528lb, total of 25 carp and 2 cats with 7 carp over 30lbs.
2007 Starts here:- March 07, Gary, Alan & Jason return to pegs 8,9 &10 and get the year off to a cracking start with five of their best for the week. From left to right 25lb, 35lb, 30lb, 35lb and a 36lb common. A comment from Gary, "Hi Alan, just a short message to let you know I enjoyed being at the lake again and took my pb to 35lb although the -3 temps during the night were a bit unexpected along with the rain, sleet and snow, still despite that it was great and Dave and Lyn looked after us really well, "always pleased to see them both".
Nov 06 :- Matthew over a three day session proves again that winter carping in France can produce some excellent results. Nothing was under 20lb with the biggest being a 42lb common and a 32lbmirror. All taken from peg one & 6/7.
Sept 06:- Peg 6/7 is fishing well, all these and more taken in a week.
Sept 06:- Yet again a lake record, David Lord with the 90lb cat. Comment from David & Shirley Lord, " We were made to feel as welcome as family. We absolutely loved the whole experience and we would recommend it to anyone."
Sept 06:- David Allen comes back for his birthday and breaks his PB for a common at 37lb on peg 9. Steven on peg 10 with two of his best. Note from David, "We just want to say thank you very much for another fantastic stay everything was spot on once again. We both really enjoyed the fishing, and caught a good amount of fish each. Steve is already asking when we are going to go again!!"
July 06:- Mark returns for a second year and brings his mate, Jarno from Holland. A good week for both the carp and cats, all taken from peg one. The last pic is Jarno's girlfriend, what a result they all had!
July 06:- Reg returns with yet another good catch. Not forgetting Kath who does it again with just one rod! The last pic is a French river carp from the river Lot after fishing for 2 days in the July sun. May o6:- Stephen on peg 10 had a great time, here's what he had to say. "Would first of all like to say thanks for a wonderful time at the lake, we were very well looked after by Dave and Lynn, the food was great, and the fishing was excellent, we enjoyed it so much we left a deposit for next year, will be forwarding my photographs via post, and look forward to seeing any posted on your website. thanks again.
April 06:- The Carpology crew check us out with a short 4 day visit for an article in their mag. Firstly Joe, the editor with four of his best from peg four over the 4 days, followed by Robert, the sales guy with five of his best from peg three. March 06:- The first of this seasons carp start to show. All taken from peg one and two with our own boilies over a bed of pellet. What a week for Luke, each day he broke his PB, he ended up with 22 carp to 39 lb here are some of the best with two mirrors to 28lb, three commons to 29lb, mirrors at 17.5, 18lb, 23.5lb, 27lb, and 39lb. Then another common at 30lb and finally two mirrors at 28lb and 31lb. Comment from Luke, "I think at first the lake looked a bit open and bare but we realized it was the time of year and also the weather was colder than expected. But as soon as we set eyes on the bay and looked out from the pegs we were hooked! The fishing started of very slow but we read the water and within a few days were in with a better chance, we realized early on that the weather would play a big part in catching carp during the week and we changed tactics almost daily. The area was tranquil and the location was excellent (only a short hop from the autoroute)."
June 05:- Reg does it again, first last year and first this year to bank one of our cats to 42lb. Followed by his best carp for the week from left to right, 22.5lb common, 26lb mirror, 20.5 mirror, 22lb mirror and 18lb mirror . Last 2 pics, Reg's son Phill with a 21lb mirror and one of our pet Koi at 6.5lb. All taken from peg 9 & 10. Note from Reg, "The whole experience was very very enjoyable. For our first trip to a French lake we were very skeptical about what to expect. This was not just a fishing trip but a holiday as well. We will definitely be going back next year and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone. Our thanks go out to Alan, Dave, Lynn and Cherry for giving us an exceptional time." Reg & Kathy
